Fishing Trips with Smögen Fishing & Archipelago Tours
Join the experienced professional fishermen at Smögen Fishing & Archipelago Tours for a memorable fishing adventure in the Smögen archipelago.
All tours depart from the Olofsson family's boathouse, located beneath the Smögen Bridge. It is 11.6 km from the Ramsvik reception to the boathouse.
🦀 Crab Fishing Tour
Mondays 10:00–12:00 and Fridays 16:30–18:30
Join a professional fisherman at sea as you haul up crab pots, look for seals, and explore the beautiful Bohuslän archipelago.
The trip lasts just over one hour. After the tour, the catch is cooked on board. If the catch is good, each participant receives a freshly cooked crab.
The crabs are large and have strong claws, so be careful with your fingers!
We recommend bringing your own life jackets for children to ensure the correct size (life jackets can also be borrowed from Ramsvik).
🎣 Family Fishing Trip
Thursdays 16:00–19:00
Spend a few hours at sea trying sea fishing with rod and reel while keeping an eye out for harbour seals.
The weather determines which fishing spots are visited. If conditions are too rough, the trip may instead include a stop on Hållö or another island in the archipelago.
Mackerel are pelagic fish that swim freely in large schools. If you're lucky enough to find a school, it's not uncommon to catch two, three or even four mackerel at the same time!
You are welcome to keep your catch (a fish-cleaning station is available at the boathouse).
You may bring your own fishing rod or rent one on site (recommended) for SEK 150, payable by cash or Swish.
We recommend bringing your own children's life jackets to ensure the correct fit (life jackets are available to borrow at Ramsvik).
🌊 Sea Fishing Trip
Fridays 08:00–12:00
During this four-hour trip, you'll fish with rod and reel at several fishing spots. The exact locations depend on the weather and sea conditions.
This tour is intended for guests with a genuine interest in sea fishing. We do not recommend it for children under 13 years of age, as the boat travels well offshore where the sea can become quite rough, increasing the risk of seasickness.
You may bring your own fishing rod or rent one on site (recommended) for SEK 150, payable by cash or Swish.
📍 Directions to Olofsson's Boathouse from Ramsvik
Drive towards Smögen and cross the Smögen Bridge. Take the first exit on the right towards Hasselösund. Continue past the ICA supermarket and take the third road on the right (Sälebådsvägen). Follow the road for approximately 400 metres along the harbour.
The boathouse has a large sign reading "Vinterförvaring" ("Winter Storage"). Parking is available nearby.
Please arrive in good time and be at the boathouse at least 15 minutes before departure.
💡 Tips
Bring a picnic basket with coffee and sandwiches. Fresh sea air builds an appetite, and it's nice to have something to eat if the boat stops on an island.
A pair of binoculars is also recommended for birdwatching.
If you are prone to seasickness, take seasickness tablets about one hour before departure. They are available from pharmacies.
This is what PO Johannesson, journalist at the fishing magazine Fiskejournalen wrote about the fishing trips: “Skipper Johan Gonsén steered the boat both during the family trip, an earlier crab safari straight from the pier of the campsite, and the half-day trip I took a day or so later. He was, apart from being an expert on fishing sites, techniques and disentangling lines, also able to communicate just the right amount of information, in a pedagogic and interesting way, about the ocean and its inhabitants, which really gave the experience an extra dimension. He also helped me to my first close contact with a spiny dogfish.”
